HKBSF Football Team’s Friendly Exchange with Dreams Metro Gallery Football Team

In order to enhance the playing techniques and to make the HKBSF blind football team a stronger team, 17 team members were arranged to enter into a competition with Dreams Metro Gallery Football Team on 25 April, 2016 at the Master 5 Indoor Football Stadium in Kwun Tong.

Dreams Metro Gallery Football Team sent a total of 25 players to compete.  Under the guidance of Mr Chan Man Chun, the football coach of HKBSF, the two teams were given a comprehensive blind football training blindfolded.  In addition, they were taught the relaxation skills after the match. During that evening, the two teams were able to learn from each other and exchanged a friendship game.

Although the Dreams Metro Gallery Team members were professional players, being blindfolded and not being able to see, they felt rather powerless.  The Brazilian player was feeling rather insecure and was leaning against the wall.  He now realised that it was very hard to play football if you were not able to see.  He really admired the perseverance of our visually impaired players in learning the skills.   In the end, this very meaningful exchange finished with HKBSF team beating the Dreams Metro Gallery 4 to 1.  Those present applauded and cheered.

We believe that this 5-A Side blind football game has improved the skills of the HKBSF blind football players as well as the Dreams Metro Gallery.  It will also have a positive impact on the development of blind football in Hong Kong.  We hope that more people in Hong Kong would be aware of this sport and the efforts made by our visually impaired players.  It is hoped that they will have more opportunities to show their abilities in this sport.
