National Day Long Run 2011
On October 1, 2011, 28 visually impaired athletes of Hong Kong Blind Sports Federation participated in the National Day Long Run sponsored by Motor Transport Workers General Union in celebration of the 62nd anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.
Number of Participants:
28 visually impaired people (20 male, 8 female) and 32 guide runners took part in the 10-kilometre race.
Activity:
At 6:00 a.m., all athletes and guide runners gathered at the Kowloon Tong MTR Station and went to the Tai Mei Tuk Plover Cove Reservoir by coach.
Upon arriving at the venue, the athletes put on their running uniforms and race numbers, and then did some warm-up exercise. All of them were confident and determined to challenge their own records. Hearing the starting signal, all participants made their best efforts to run and reach the destination, and our athletes also started running in succession.
On that day it was windy and drizzly with a feel of autumn, but the participants were not affected by the weather. As they had been under constant training, the 10 kilometres was not so great a challenge to them. In the end, all visually impaired athletes completed the race successfully and with better results than last year. We sincerely hope that they will continue their efforts and achieve even better results in the future.
