2016 Taipei Expressway Marathon was successfully held from 19 to 21 March 2016.  The HKBSF has sent a total of 12 visually impaired athletes and 15 sighted guide runners to participate in this competition. The result was satisfactory with 4 visually impaired athletes winning medals.  Everyone was happy when they returned home.

 On the morning of 19 March, the athletes, guide runners and staff of HKBSF arrived at the Hong Kong International Airport with much excitement.  After about 1½ hours, they landed at the Taipei Airport where their 3 days’ trip began.  They were all looking forward to 20 March, the day of the competition when they had a chance to bring out their best performance after putting much effort in their training at HKBSF.  We were proud to announce their good results under the visually impaired group.  We had one champion in the half marathon and three athletes in the first three positions in the 10km competition.

Their success was partly due to the efforts of the sighted guide runners who persist in training together with the visually impaired athletes on a regular basis thus cultivating a mutual understanding while they were competing in the marathon.  The coaches’ careful instructions and professional guidance were also the key to their success.  Finally, we must give credits to the supporting team who took care of their daily needs so that they could concentrate to perform the best at the marathon.

Half Marathon

First runner up: Chu Kin Wa

Champion:  Leung Siu Wai

First runner-up: Chan Fai Ming

Second runner-up: Wong Suk Yu
