UNICEF Charity Run 2011
On November 27, 2011, Hong Kong Blind Sports Federation sent 23 visually impaired athletes and 28 guide runners to participate in the UNICEF Charity Run 2011. This event aimed at raising funds for women and children in underdeveloped countries to fight against AIDS. It was another meaningful activity demonstrating the spirits of “Equal Participation, Sports for All” and “Help Others, Help Self”.
At 3 a.m., our 16 half marathon runners and 7 10-kilometre runners gathered at Inspiration Lake Recreation Centre to do warm-up exercise. When the race began at 6:15 a.m., all runners and guide runners set out with great strength and vigour. At about 7:15, the first runner already reached the finishing post. All runners performed quite well in this race to get prepared for the Taipei International Marathon Race.
