2019 Standard Chartered Taipei Marathon The 2019 Standard Chartered Taipei Marathon held from January 12 to 14, 2019 in Taipei has been successfully completed. The HKBSF sent 7 visually impaired athletes and 7 sighted guide runners to participate in this marathon run. They achieved very good results and were awarded with 6 medals.

In the morning of 12 January, the visually impaired runners, sighted guide runners, coaches and staff members reached Taipei after flying for about an hour and a half. They were excited and very much looking forward to the run on 13 January. They hoped to show what they had learnt and made better achievements this year. Their efforts have yielded good results. They not only won first place in the half marathon for visually impaired (men’s group) but also champion in the 13km (men and women’s group).

Our visually impaired runners are grateful to their sighted guide runners who have consistently practised with them and for the coaches who have taught them the skills and techniques to achieve good result. The coaches’ guidance is definitely the key to winning this competition. Finally, they are thankful to the support team who travelled with them and took care of their needs so that they could concentrate on the run.
