The Blindfold Challenge~ An Event to promote “Equal Participation & Sports for All”

The Blindfold Challenge, the first online public education cum fund raising event, was successfully held from 1 to 30 November, 2020 with over 1000 people participated. They included celebrities, Corporate personnel and students who went online to join either the Blindfold Write or Blindfold Walk. Among the celebrities, we had Ms. Joey Yung,  Ms Candy Chea, Ms. Rita Carpio and our outstanding visually impaired athlete ,Mr. Gary Leung, to act as our Event Ambassadors to promote the Event. 

 A Celebration Ceremony was held on 12th December 2020 at the Sky Lounge, L'Hotel in Tsuen Wan.  The Event Title Sponsor, Chinachem Group, represented by Mr. Wong Hung Han, COO  and Mr. Leung Wing  Kong, Senior Consultant had joined Mr. Peter Sun MH, Founding Chairman, Mr Roger Ngan, Chairman and Mrs. Grace Chan, Founder and CEO of Hong Kong Blind Sports Federation (HKBSF) and members of the Fund Raising Committee to officiate at the Celebration Ceremony and marked the conclusion of the event.  Due to the pandemic, some of our major sponsors, visually impaired athletes and participants attended the Celebration Ceremony through Zoom.

 

The Honourable Mr. Ma Fung Kwok, GBS JP, member of the Legislative Council of the HKSAR Government representing Sports, Performing Arts, Culture and Publication Constituency, was the Chief Officiating Guest. In his opening speech, he highly complemented the work of HKBSF in blind sport in the past 12 years and hoped that Government would provide recurrent support to HKBSF soon so that the visually impaired people could continue to participate in various sports training programme to facilitate their integration into society.   

 

At the Ceremony, Mr. Roger Ngan, HKBSF Chairman, expressed the hope that HKBSF could receive financial support from Corporates and/or Charitable Foundations , in the near future  so that we could have  a permanent sports training centre to organise various sports training programmes for the visually impaired people.
