The Hong Kong Blind Sports Federation (HKBSF) sent a team to participate in the Shatin Dragon Boat Race on June 23, 2012, the Dragon Boat Festival. This team had about 40 members including volunteers and players with visual impairment. On that day there were 22 sessions attracting a large audience. The Hong Kong Blind Sports Federation (HKBSF) took part in China’ Mixed Dragon Boat Invitational–Wireless Cup with 8 competing teams in total. We won the fifth place because of the fierce competition. We received applause and cheers from a lot of audience along the way, which impressed all present.

Before the race, TVB, the first wireless commercial television station in Hong Kong, interviewed Mr. Sun Kwok Wah, Chairman of Hong Kong Blind Sports Federation, Mr. Kwok Ka-ming, our dragon boat coach, Ms. Samrid Wong Chan, the dragon boat team leader (the visually impaired group), some team members, etc. The interview was shown on television on June 23, when the Dragon Boat Race was held. Millions of people watched this interview in Hong Kong, which sent a message of “Commitment, Equality and Integration”.
