Nine visually impaired athletes participated in this inaugural event organized by the Standard Chartered Bank in Taipei on 2 June, 2013.  The event attracted over 20,000 registrants; among them 154 were visually impaired runners.  The event broke the record in Taiwan of having the most visually impaired participating athletes.

Since there were so many visually impaired participants, the sponsor, Standard Chartered Bank had specially trained a number of guide runners to run together with the visually impaired.  There were races of 12.5 km and 3 km.  All our members participated in 12.5 km run with men and women competing separately.

Mr Wu Den Yih, Vice-President of Taiwan officiated at the kick-off ceremony.  Although the day was hot, the spirit was high and every one was excited.  The final result was encouraging.  Out of the ten awards for the visually impaired group, our members won 7 prizes.   For the men’s group, we won first, second and fourth runner-ups.  For the women’s group, we won champion, second, third and fourth runner-ups.
