Colourful Journey of Inclusive Life ---- 1-day Tour to Hong Kong Disneyland

On July 1 (Friday), 2011, Hong Kong Blind Sports Federation and Hong Kong Disneyland jointly held the programme “Colourful Journey of Inclusive Life ---- 1-day Tour to Disneyland”.

Under Hong Kong Disneyland’s full sponsorship of tickets and the guidance of 20 Disneyland volunteers, 65 visually impaired members of HKBSF, 39 volunteers and 3 staff members visited the feature spots of Disneyland and enjoyed the different programmes there. Mrs. Grace Chan, JP, CEO of HKBSF was present during the tour.

At 9:15 a.m., the HKBSF members and volunteers met at Exit C of Shek Kip Mei MTR Station and departed for Disneyland on the two coaches arranged by HKBSF. On the way, the staff members of HKBSF briefed on the itinerary for the day and distributed a bottle of water and a fancy T-shirt to each member.

According to the weather forecast, there would be a thunderstorm on that day, but luckily it cleared up when we arrived at Disneyland. Upon arrival, all members formed up groups as scheduled and began to enjoy their tour under the guidance of their group leaders and Disneyland volunteers. At the entrance, all participants took a group photo. Next, all members and volunteers had a copious lunch at River View Café. After lunch, following the lead of Disneyland volunteers, the HKBSF members took photos with their favourite Disney characters, watched different performances, played various amusement rides, and saw the 4 p.m. float parade as well as the circus show. Towards the end of the tour, members went shopping and bought souvenirs and gifts for remembrance of this unforgettable tour.

The tour ended at 5:15 p.m. Then the members and volunteers gathered and left Disneyland. On the way back, they spontaneously exchanged opinions and thoughts about this tour. This activity promoted mutual understanding between the visually impaired and the able-bodied and achieved the goal of “Colourful Journey of Inclusive Life” through sharing and caring. To conclude, all of them were very happy that they had spent a colourful day by participating in this programme.
